Meet Kathryn Christie
Hi, I’m Kathryn Christie, the founder of An Ear Full of Agriculture! I am a 5th generation farmer, my family raises Charolais cattle, and crops. My mission is to promote, educate, and advocate for agriculture in fun, engaging, and meaningful ways. From hosting library and school programs to community involvement, I strive to connect people of all ages with the fascinating world of farming. I’m also the author of The Hibernating Combine, a children’s book that inspires curiosity and celebrates the importance of farming in a creative and engaging way.
Growing Up
I’ve always been passionate about farm life, immersing myself in every aspect from a young age. Whether I was helping with chores, participating in 4-H and FFA, or working alongside the guys, I was determined to prove I belonged and could hold my own. Those experiences taught me the value of hard work, resilience, and teamwork, shaping not only my connection to agriculture but also my drive to honor and share its story with others.
The Start of An Ear Full of Agriculture
An Ear Full of Agriculture began in 2020 as my pageant platform when I was crowned Pure International Miss Michigan State. During my year-long reign, I read agriculture-accurate books to over 500 youth, fostering a deeper understanding of farming and its importance. At the National Pageant, I continued to promote and educate about agriculture on a larger scale.
In 2025, An Ear Full of Agriculture became a legal entity, serving as the foundation for my ongoing efforts to inspire curiosity and understanding of agriculture. This initiative will act as an umbrella for my future projects and programs dedicated to promoting agricultural literacy and advocacy.
Volunteering and Experience
Connecting children to the joys of agriculture has been at the heart of my volunteer work. I have served in leadership roles with organizations like Barry County Farm Bureau, Hastings FFA, and Barry County 4-H, coordinating events and fostering meaningful experiences that bring farming to life for young minds.
Through my work with the Barry County Farm Bureau, I initiated a Farmer-to-Consumer Directory to strengthen relationships between local farmers and their communities. I also led an effort to donate the Agriculture Book of the Year to every library in Barry County, ensuring agriculture-accurate materials are accessible to all.
My dedication to education and advocacy reflects my mission to bridge the gap between farms and families, cultivating curiosity and understanding of agriculture for future generations.
Home Life
When I’m not busy advocating for agriculture or working on my next book, you can find me juggling the roles of mom, wife, and farmer. I also love crafting, traveling, spreadsheets, and finding new ways to connect with people.
